I am finally home! While I had so much fun! I am so glad to be home! I am exhausted! Shopping can really take a lot out of you. I think the next few post will probably be about my trip and things to do in Cincinnati Ohio (Area). I love Ohio!
So I think this week will be a couple post about that and then next week and probably the following weeks will be the deals I got on my trip! I found so many great deals! It was well worth the trip!
Today I want to show you pictures of my trip, and how I got a 3 day vacation for cheap!
What we did:
Shopping at :
Ikea- $7
Traders World Flea Market- $12
Jungle Jims- $11
Target$14
Goodwill (4 of them)- $12
Salvation Army- $4
Others:
Natural History Museum- Free (for me)
Cincinnati History Museum- Free (for me)
Dinosaurs Alive Omnimax Movie- Free (for me)
Dinosaurs Unearthed Exhibit- Free (for me)
Food:
Skyline: $4
White Castle: $5
Taco bell: $2
Burger King: $2
Grandma's Dinner: Free
2 Grandma Breakfasts- Free
Hotel:
2 nights at grandma's house: Free
Gas:
$40 ($15 chipped in from Best friend): $25
Total: $98
So total my trip cost me $98 dollars and that included $60 just shopping.
If I had bought nothing it would have been a $38 3 day vacation.
But of course I had to buy tons of thrifty stuff!
So, how so cheap?

So, how so cheap?
Hotel: Stay with family or friends! It can really eat into a budget to stay in a hotel. So if you can eliminate that factor completely than do it!
Food: Fast food city. It can be so cheap. I got a chicken taco and three layer nacho at taco bell and it cost me $2. Also at Burger King I got a spicy chicken sandwich and a fry for $2. (is it healthy? No, but If you are just on a weekend trip and don't want to brown bag it or cook then its the cheapest bet) Also, If your gracious host is willing to make you dinner then that is amazing! DO NOT EXPECT FREE FOOD from your family and friends, but what grandma wouldn't make their grandchild a free meal? :) Also, Water. I don't drink soda, so this is easy for me, but you can save $1-$3 just by not drinking anything but water.
Shopping: Thrift store it, flea market it, Clearance shop it! If you want to shop, just do it right :)
Museums: There are always tons of free Museums in big cities. I chose to go to the Cincinnati Museum Center. It is not free at all. Buuuut....if your brother works there it is free :) My brother works for the museum center and got us into all 2 museums, the traveling exhibit, and the Omnimax movie for free! It was great! Also while we were in town there was a huuuuge festival going on! We didn't have a chance to go but it looked huge, and like lots of fun! Also the fair was in town, so we could have checked that out as well!

ReplyDeleteI cannot wait to hear about this Jungle Jim's place. It has me intrigued.
ReplyDeleteI cannot believe you did the trip for $98. I can spend that one night out in my own city. I need to start using your tips ;)
How fun! Road trips with friends are always fun and they don't have to break the bank. Very good! I want to see a post of what you found at the thrift shops too! Can you believe they closed our Salvation Army, so my favorite place to shop is now at least 45 minutes away. Whaaa!!
ReplyDeleteI don't know what Jungle Jim's is, so I can't wait to see your posting.
BTW... we went to Niagra Falls last Tuesday. Total blast! It was a 1 day road trip too. My husband had business up there, so we tagged along and made a fun day of it.
Wow sounds fun and super great for under $100.
